These unbelievable chalk drawings are created by Julian Beever and Kurt Wenner. The illustrations become illusions when looking from the correct distance and exact angle. Viewing from any other position will make the artwork unrecognizable. This genre of art in its raw form has been practiced since the 16th century formerly known as “Aux Trois crayons”. With the passage of time it has evolved into something very unique and amazing.
Julian Beever is an English, Belgium-based chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l’œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions. Kurt Wenner is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and along with chalk illustrations also creates public and private commissioned oil paintings, murals, sculpture and architecture all over the world.
Here is a collection of our favorites from these two entitled 15 Awesome Chalk Illustrations by Julian Beever and Kurt Wenner.

I thought these were mainly done on canvas and transported to the location? Otherwise it would take hundreds of hours, outside, under the elements, to complete any one of those.
