We’ve all been outside a lot more in this warmer weather. You might have looked at your house and felt it was lacking in curb appeal and character. Here are some ways you can easily add curb appeal to your home.
1.Paint Your Front Door
It is the first thing visitors see when they approach your house. A nice pop of color gives the exterior some character as well as a sense of style. Choose from classic colors like red, navy, white, or gray. Or, you can be a little more bold and choose bright yellow, turquoise, mint, or teal.
2. Add Flower Boxes or Pots
Give your home a sense of beauty by adding flower boxes under the windows and flower pots to the porch or walkways. These simple additions give pops of color to the boring backdrop of stucco, siding or brick. Livening it up and creating a beautiful place for the eye to land.
3. Define Flower Beds With Curbing
Defining spaces within your yard can give it a sense of organization. Use cement curbing, pavers, or rock walls to separate your grassy areas from your flower beds.
4. Plant Trees
Tree’s not only allow a yard to look mature and well manicured but they also provide necessary shade while you enjoy your yard. You can accent trees by putting curbing around where they are planted, placing benches beneath them, or planting flowers around the base.
5. Create Flower Beds To Border The House
While having only grass in your yard makes it a lot easier to maintain it doesn’t offer any curb appeal. If you can border the front of your house with flower beds it will definitely increase the appeal as visitors approach your home. Use a combination of greenery and color so that they aren’t too intense.
6. Add Shutters To The WindowsÂ
Framing out windows on the front of the house with shutters adds so much character. If you feel like your house is missing a little something, adding shutters just might be what you need. You can make your own shutters or have them professional made and installed. They can be painted any color to compliment the exterior of the home.
7. Create PathwaysÂ
Everyone needs to access the front, back and side areas of a home. Creating a beautiful pathway from the street to the front door will definitely add curb appeal. As will pathways on the side of the home leading visitors from the front to backyard. There are literally a million different ways you can create these paths using wood, cement, pavers, flagstone, large rocks, gravel, grass, and more.
8. Decorate the porch
If you have a large porch where visitors will land before knocking on the door make sure it has come cute furniture, is clean, and has some fun decorations. This will make visitors feel invited before they even enter your house.
9. Add And/Or Upgrade LightingÂ
If the front of your house is dark and uninviting it won’t appeal to anyone. If your lighting is out of date update it. If your yard lacks light then add some with flower bed lights, lit pathways, new outdoor sconces, or even a chandelier on the porch.
10. Get A New Mailbox
Whether your mailbox lines the street or is mounted to your home, updating it can add some instant curb appeal.
11. Update Your House Numbers
It is pretty safe to say that your curb appeal will suffer if the house numbers are hanging upside. Update your house number to match the character you want the home to exude.
Hopefully, those wheels are spinning with how you can amp up the curb appeal of your home. Making it a place you want to come home too and a place others enjoy looking at.
